Waiting to Play

Ever have the perfect card, but not when you need it? Hate it when the round unfolds, but your turn was first? Well that is where the recently unlocked Delayed Effect cards come handy.

Fairies of this Power Type activate on the NEXT round. This means you can watch the round unfold and take your best action, or impact another player on their next round. Here are two, unlocked examples of the Delayed Effect families;

Psychic

This card means you will know 2 of your 3 cards on your next 'Press your Luck' dealing round. This makes it more difficult for your opponent to hide from you the card you want... but not impossible.

Reduced

Almost the inverse of the Psychic, your opponent sets up your deck, knowing you will never see your first card. In addition to losing the card you probably wanted, you will only have two cards left to choose from.. your odds of winning are Reduced!

Games We Love

We started BARD Games because we love games and the gaming community. We believe the more you play, the better the gaming community grows. We believe it so much that we sell other publisher's games on our website. We want to sell games we believe in, even if we didn't make them.

From time to time we will share a few Games We Believe In during an update, so you don't miss them;

I am backing The One Hundred Tori by Pencil First Games.  Scott Caputio and Eduardo Baraf are amazing designers, and this game is another work of art.

I have played this game in prototype form several times. It is strategic, has gentle action and is amazing because you are using your visual mind to score points on the garden path. Great game, great price point, great art. If you can swing two Kickstarters this month, this should be the other one! Here is their link; https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/ebaraf/the-one-hundred-torii?ref=user_menu

Tell us in the Comments about other games you love on Kickstarter, and we will check them out.

Color me Excited!

The Amy Brown eColoring Book is wonderful.

Amy chose 6 gorgeous fairies for you to print and color... as many times as you like!

Debbie and I are both coloring a fairy this weekend. I will share a picture of our work so you can judge our art. We are not Amy Brown, so judge with compassion.

The eColoring Book is exclusively for Fickle Frenzy backers. If you want to add the Coloring Book PDF (and Fairy Crown and Token Bag!) to your game, simply upgrade your Reward Level to the Fairy Frenzy level.

How Deep is this Well?

KublaCon backers are drawn to the art, but they also want to know Fickle is a 'real game'. We did alot of demos, and the discovery was universal; there is a lot of depth to Fickle. Here are a few features of the game that play testers told us they loved after playing Fickle;

Press your Luck Dealing- Shuffling and dealing cards isn't very strategic. But imagine the dealer can stack the deck the way she chooses, and then you can only peek at one card at a time... that is how cards are dealt in Fickle! Everyone participates and everyone is using the 3 card deal to outwit their neighbor, since all scoring cards are public information on your Alliance tableau

Inverse Scoring-  The fairies of Fickle demand equal presence on your council, and turn on you if you show fairy favoritism. Unlike most games, your score for a set is based one a "one or all" strategy. This also creates alot of tension, you have to choose to keep your suits low, or commit to Shoot the Moon. Playing the middle will always hurt your score.

Fairy Powers card interaction- With 17 (and counting) fairies introducing numerous ways to interact with the cards in the game, players discovered they had favorite strategies, favorite fairy family decks and trouble outwitting their neighbors who have the same power choices.

Shuffle Building to craft your game - We know some players like aggressive, direct action games. We know others favor indirect manipulation of resources and score maximization. Playing Fickle at KublaCon, gamers discovered they can create the style of play that want for their table. With only a little instruction, players were making the games they liked.

I watch 'scorched earth' games with Dispel and Purge cards making it difficult to hold even 1 card. I watched other games with Illusion + Prestige + Familiar combos with crazy high scores, including a crazy 3 way tie that was won by the Court Crier rule.

Fickle truly offers a lot to serious gamers, and still does it in about 20 minutes!

Tabletop Takeover!

We have more Events coming up to share Fickle coming up. Our fearless leader Eric is headed to Tabletop Takeovers to celebrate International Tabletop Day this Saturday! If you are near Anaheim, California, find him and play! Here is more about the event https://www.facebook.com/events/389029071651429/

New Video Review

We have posted another video on our BoardGameGeek.com page for Fickle. Chris from Table Top Game Talk dives deep into Fickle strategy. Alert viewers will notice he is playing an early prototype of the game; so happy that your help is going to upgrade the game to match the beauty of Amy Brown fairies!

Your Game is Reduced! KublaCon 2019 Update.

Your Game is Reduced!

That's right, this unlocked stretch goal reduced your game... by adding the Reduce fairy. This nasty little Fae reduces your cards during the Fairy Selection phase, making it easy for your competitors to reduce your choices.

KublaCon! What's Eric Playing? Puzzled?
almost 5 years ago – Sun, May 26, 2019 at 11:36:17 PM

KubalCon!

We are at KublaCon showing Fickle to 1000's of gamers, industry influencers and potential backers, and they are loving this game! The art is praised, then the unique twists on set collection (like inverse scoring and the 'press your luck' dealing) passes the 'is this a real game' test. And when they play and discover how the many fairies of Fickle ensure replayability and fun crafted for your table's style of play. Success!

The BARD Games team is working hard to do our part to grow Fickle and help unlock more stretch goals. If you are in the San Francisco Bay Area, come visit us!

What's Eric Playing

Eric [no relation to our Eric at BARD Games] is one of many game reviewers who have reviewed Fickle. Eric does a great and objective job of breaking the game down so you can understand what makes it exciting. He also has captured the beauty of Amy Brown fairies in amazing photos on his website!

 If you are looking for an article to share with your gaming friends to tell them about Fickle, start right here; https://whatsericplaying.com/2019/05/20/fickle/

Funded! Speaking of Laurels...New Review Video.
almost 5 years ago – Fri, May 24, 2019 at 05:03:23 PM

FUNDED!

And just like that, you launched a new game. Thank you backers, supporters and promoters. Kickstarter has become an incredibly noisy room to stand out. When we launched, I snapped an image of the number of open projects;

That is a lot to choose from! That's 2.2% chance of being noticed! And with your help, and the amazing art of Amy Brown, we are standing out in the crowd. But don't rest on your laurel's quite yet! More backers means we can meet minimum order criteria for more, beautiful, fairy themed gaming goods!

Speaking of Laurels...

The Fairy Queen is missing something... her bejeweled crown!

This is not the usual token or meeple. This crown is made of metal and tiny, faux pearls. The Learning Mouse token in the base game is fun for your teaching board, but the Fairy Queen is majestic! All we need is 9 more backers and our Frenzy Fairy backers will be sporting their new do (if you are 6 inches tall).

New Review Video

We added to our campaign page a wonderful review from our new fairy friends Ezra, Thomas and Tiara from Quest and Chaos. These streaming channel stars play three rounds of Fickle and explain the intricacies you can only discover by playing.

Help your gaming (and fairy loving!) friends find us by sharing this glowing review from Quest and Chaos. It's sure to sway your most suspicious gaming friends. Here is our post on Facebook to share;  https://www.facebook.com/1844781352418357/posts/2417964818433338/
